#ChileAwoke

Looking back at everything that has happened, it is really hard to express all the emotions that one feels. Earlier today I was saying to a student how we have naturalized state repression so much that now nothing really surprises you. My friends and I compare are pellet wounds as if was something so normal; so normal to show how the police shot you during a protest. I think that even after these 2 months we still haven't been able to really digest everything that has happened, what this all means.

What happened on October 18th is what needed to happen and there is no going back. We cannot sing victory just yet, but there are small things that we have achieved; Chadwick was forced to resign and now can't have a public position for 5 years, our communities are organized, we no longer will permit abuses of any sort, and we have a new consciousness.  I now know a lot of my colleagues at work and a lot of my neighbours also. I was really proud of my neighbourhood because we would break the curfew and do cacerolazo anyway because we couldn't live in fear, never again.

I remember at the beginning of the revolt we were living day by day, no one what was going to happen the next day and with my friends we were always connected to know when the curfew was and to see if anyone needed to stay with me since I live in downtown and we always went to Dignity Plaza (ex- Plaza Italia). Then we started living week by week, and now things are  now "normal" in the sense that life continues, but I think that that seed of rebellion has sprouted and will continue growing.

I want to say that I enjoyed hearing about all your experiences in class today (Thursday). It made me proud to know that all of you are so involved in your communities :)

Now it's your turn:

Write about;

- Your experiences in your community
-The different emotions you have felt during the revolt
- How things will continue now
